2017 Kazan Film Festival Press-Screenings: Feature Films, Full-Length, Competition Programme

Press Screenings of the 13th edition of Kazan Muslim Film Festival continues in Kazan.

“The films selected for the press-screenings of 2017 Kazan Muslim Film Festival represent the quality of works entered the competition and the out-of-competition segments of the festival”, highlights the executive director of the festival, the director of Tatarkino, Milyausha Aituganova.

The press screenings programme was opened by a competition programme full length feature film Kingdom of Clay Subjects by Bijon, Bangladesh. The 2017 edition of the festival has received numerous entries from Bangladesh. However, only this film by a young director Bijon has entered the competition programme of the festival. He is a graduate of the School of Theatre, Film and Television, the University of California (Los-Angeles, the USA), who has already won the best feature film award in the seventh edition of Chicago South Asian Film Festival 2016.

The film revolves around the story of an 11-year-old boy, who is seeking to find his identity and place in his world. With symbols and metaphors used, the film reflects social issues of children growing up in poverty in a tale narrated with humour and visual fair.

Lathe Joshi by Mangesh Joshi, India

The competition programme of the 13th edition of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival also involves full-length documentary, short documentary, short feature, National Cinema and Young Russia sections.
