The 13th edition of Kazan Muslim Film Festival will be held from the 5th to 11th of September 2017 with support from the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and in partnership with the Russia — Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.
The founders of the festival are the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the administration of the city of Kazan and Russian Council of Muftis.
The president of the jury board of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival 2017 is a Russian film director and scriptwriter Nikolay Dostal.
Among the guests of the 2017 Kazan Muslim Film Festival, it is necessary to highlight Russian actors Nataliya Varley, Svetlana Svetlichnaya, Vladimir Konkin, Anna Snatkina, Leonid Kulagin, Victor Merezhko, Marat Basharov, Kirill Pletnev and Ruben Dishdishyan.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held in Pyramida Culture and Entertainment Complex on the 5th of September 2017. The closing ceremony is to be held at Musa Dzhalil Tatar State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet on the 11th of September.
The festival will host the 4th Cinema Time Education Forum in Mir Cinema.
Since 2005, Kazan Muslim Film Festival is one of the largest film forums held annually in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. The festival focuses on films supporting the ideas of peace-building, tolerance and humanity and promoting intercultural dialogue.
The 13th Kazan Muslim Film Festival shortlisted 60 films from 27 countries, including Azerbaijan, Albania, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Hungary, Denmark, Egypt, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, Morocco, Nepal, Niger, Russia, USA, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, France, Sweden and Estonia.
In 2017, Kazan film festival received 782 entries from 61 countries
The 13th edition of the festival introduces new competition programmes: Young Russia (films by young Russian directors) and the section of National Cinema (films created in the Republic of Tatarstan or devoted to this region).
The competition and parallel programmes of the festival will be showcased in Rodina, Mir, Kinomaks, Korston cinemas and in the Kazan Kremlin.
