Actor Boris Scherbakov to host 10th Kazan Film Festival’s opening ceremony

(Kazan, 2 September, Tatar-inform). The 10th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will open in Kazan on 5 September. The opening will take place at Piramida centre and will traditionally begin with meeting guest stars.

This year, European cinema maitre Dutch film director Jos Stelling, well-known Russian auteur cinema representative Konstantin Lopushansky, whose favourite genres are paroemia and anti-utopia, actress film director Vera Glagoleva, actress Natalia Arinbasarova, film director scriptwriter Rustam Ibragimbekov, film director scriptwriter Ali Khamrayev, and many others, will walk on the red carpet.

The opening ceremony will be hosted by famous Russian actor Boris Scherbakov.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the festival will gather the winners, participants, guests of honour and jury members from its past editions who played an important role in the making of the cinema event. They will take part in the official ceremony and, during the festival, present the in and out-of-competition programmes, and will tell about upcoming premieres.

The anniversary opening show will contain themes important for the Tatarstan cinema, 90 years since the establishment of Tatarkino that originates from one of the country’s oldest filmmaking associations, and the declaration of Kazan the 2014 Turkic world’s cultural capital. Attendees at the ceremony will be Turksoy member states delegates and Turkish cinema representatives, says the festival’s press service.
