The 6th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival
The 6th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival was held from the 15th to 19th September, 2010. The opening and closing ceremonies were held in the cultural and entertainment complex “Pyramid”. Festival screenings were organized in the cultural and entertainment centre “Rodina”, also in “Mir”, “Organic”, “Korston”, and “Kinomechta” cinema houses. Everyday during the festival 10 up to 15 competitive and 5 up to 10 non-competitive films were shown.
194 applications from 60 countries were received for the 6th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, among them:
- 62 full length feature films,
- 30 short length films,
- 78 documentaries,
- 24 animated motion pictures.
This year the nomination “Animated film” was renovated.
Russia,Iran,Egypt,AlgeriaandIndiaare traditionally leaders on the quantity of sent films.
The head of the selection committee of the 6th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival was film director and producer Ovidio Salazar (Abdul Latif Salazar) (Great Britain).
Members of the selection committee were
— scriptwriter, professor Amr Samir (Egypt),
— editor of the “Cinema” rubric of the “Culture” newspaper PhD in Arts Svetlana Khokhryakova (Russia).
Films reflecting human, spiritual and moral values as well as cultural traditions, supporting the ideas of peacemaking, tolerance and humanity regardless of the nationality and religious affiliation of the authors were selected for the festival program.
